“The better we know who He is, the better we will know what He is saying to us.”-Dr Stephen Putney
Leviticus 19:2 “Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them” ‘Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.’”
How can we obey God’s command and be Holy, just as He is Holy?
Well let’s start by answering what exactly IS “holy”? Merriam Webster defines holy as “Exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness” OR it also defines holy “Devoted entirely to the diety or the work of the diety”
“Exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousness”
Pay attention and read this next part slowly. Trust me, it blew my mind to visualize this. Isaiah 6:1-13 “ “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
The angels still cried Holy, after these thousands of years. Remember when you were a kid and you would get that ONE thing that you really wanted for Christmas? And for the first few weeks or even months, you played with that toy every single day, until finally after a while you somehow forgot about it? Well after thousands of years the angels could never put God down.
